Academic Achievement for Dexter Elementary Student
Wednesday September 4th, Dexter Elementary School had a surprise assembly to celebrate one of our students, Lyla Armstrong, who had been awarded with National Math Star Program honors. Of the approximately 36,000 students in Iowa, who took this math test, Lyla scored in the top 700. Great job!
Pictured below is a photo of the speech given by Principal Calvert.
"Today, we celebrated the academic achievements of one of our very own West Central Valley Wildcats here at Dexter Elementary! In partnership with the Iowa Department of Education, the National Math Star program honors the states most advanced mathematicians. Lyla Armstrong was the recipient of the National Math Stars Award for scoring in the top 2% of all third graders in the state of Iowa on last year's ISASP testing. This is truly a remarkable accomplishment! Congratulations Lyla!"
